The Westchester County Veterans Museum is excited to announce the debut of a new exhibit for 2025, “The American Civil War: A War of Firsts.” This exhibit will explore the significant innovations in warfare, medicine, weaponry, transportation, and other vital advancements that emerged during the Civil War, highlighting how these developments shaped the future of armed conflict and medical practices.
The Civil War is considered the “first modern war,” and in order to fight it, there were a number of firsts that involved new technology, innovations in communications, development of weapons that were more lethal, and new forms of transportation. All these firsts helped to not only sustain the war, but ultimately helped win the war.
The exhibit will remain open to the public through 2025 during regular museum hours: Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature interactive displays and opportunities for visitors to learn about the innovations that emerged during the Civil War.
Additionally, the museum will host a series of related events throughout the exhibit’s run, including guest speakers, educational workshops, and family-friendly activities. For details on the full schedule of events, please visit LasdonPark.org/events.
